Students were invited to write an essay and win lunch with the author and a Gift Certificate. All GCC students participating in A Tale for Three Counties were eligible to enter.
Students were asked to select one of the following questions for their essay:
- Do you believe Bobby Williams’ jailhouse conversion to Christianity is authentic, or is he a sociopath just trying to con the parole board with a story of rebirth and reform? Explain what in the book made you feel this way.
- Wesley suffers from the effects of torture both in his loss of ability to play the fiddle and anxiety about how others perceive him when they see his hand and the scars on his arm. Describe how a physical loss in your own life or that of someone close to you has had a lasting impact. Relate this to Wesley’s experience.
